Design Profile
Joellyn Rocha has been involved in the interior design industry for 10 years and is in the 4th year of owning her own design firm. She has designed award winning projects across the southeast and currently concentrates most of her current work in Florida where she is based in Tampa.
Joellyn’s design career began in 1998 and her first project in the industry was the “Minnie Pearl Mansion” in Nashville Tennessee. Joellyn was the lead designer on the team that created the award winning master bedroom and bath at the Nashville Designer Showhouse held at the mansion in 1998. Joellyn continued her success in New Orleans where she was based as a designer with a fine furniture store in the French Quarter working with residential clients. It was here that she honed her knowledge of fine furnishings- both new and antique.
Upon moving to Tampa in 2001, Joellyn began working as a designer in the building industry- performing color selection sessions with clients of various home builders in the area. During this phase of her design career she worked with residential homeowners to select their flooring, cabinets, countertops, paint colors, plumbing, and light fixtures to create a perfectly coordinated home. She also worked to help them select their home furnishings and window treatments as well as artwork and accessories. This experience has proven to be very valuable down the road for both residential and commercial projects. Joellyn also has experience working as a design center manager for a local builder where she began decorating award winning model homes at this time.
In 2005 Joellyn started her own design firm, Joellyn Rocha Designs. Since then she has completed over 50 model homes in Florida. Joellyn works with builders to design for their specific target market with the goal being an increase in home sales. Her models have proven to be very successful in increasing bottom line profits for builders and developers.
Since her business began, senior housing development décor has been a corner stone of her work. Joellyn finds senior housing especially rewarding and understands the nuances of changes required in color, lighting and furnishings for these projects. Joellyn has decorated models, town centers and clubhouses for both active and assisted living facilities.
Joellyn’s design expertise is well rounded and she also enjoys working with apartment complexes, condo models and lobbies, office building, restaurants, and physician’s offices.
Residential design work is also a specialty. Joellyn enjoys getting to know her clients and their families. She works to create home environments that fit the needs and desires of the owners. She truly listens to her clients and believes in tailoring her skills to fit their needs instead of forcing opinions and styles that aren’t in line with the owner’s lifestyle and goals. Joellyn works with all phases of residential décor including space planning, lighting, paint colors, furnishings, accessories, artwork and more.
