Joellyn Rocha has been involved in the interior design industry for 10 years and is in the 4th year of owning her own design firm. She has designed award winning projects across the southeast and her offices are based in Tampa, Florida.
Joellyn’s design career began in 1998 and her first project in the industry was the “Minnie Pearl Mansion” in Nashville Tennessee. Joellyn was the lead designer on the team that created the award winning master bedroom and bath at the Nashville Designer Showhouse held at the mansion in 1998. Joellyn continued her success in New Orleans where she was based as a designer with a fine furniture store in the French Quarter working with residential clients. It was here that she honed her knowledge of fine furnishings- both new and antique.
Upon moving to Tampa in 2001, Joellyn began working as a designer in the building industry- performing color selection sessions with clients of various home builders in the area. During this phase of her design career she worked with residential clients to create perfectly coordinated new homes by guiding them throught the process of selecting flooring, cabinets, countertops, plumbing, and light fixtures and paint colors. Many clients continued working with Joellyn to complete the look of their new home with furnishings, window treatments, artwork and accessories. This comprehensive design experience proved to form a valuable foundation for her work today in both residential and commercial decorating. Joellyn also has experience as a Design Center Manager for a local builder where she oversaw the work of several designers and began decorating award winning model homes at this time.
In 2005 Joellyn started her own design firm, Joellyn Rocha Designs. Since then she has completed over 50 model homes in the state of Florida. Joellyn works with builders closely to create interior design themes for specific target markets with the goal being an increase in new home sales. Her models have proven to be very successful in increasing bottom line profits for builders and developers.
Since her business began, senior housing development décor has been a corner stone of her work. Joellyn finds senior community projects especially rewarding and understands the specific design needs for this industry. Joellyn has decorated models, town centers and clubhouses, dining halls, theaters, and auditoriums for both active and assisted living facilities. By concentrating on creating environments that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, Joellyn excels in this line of work.
Joellyn’s design expertise is well rounded in the commercial realm. She also enjoys working with apartment and condominium communities and has extensive experience decorating models, lobbies, clubhouses, and pool areas. Her design talents are also applied to office building decor including conference rooms, reception areas, and individual office spaces. Hospitality decor, restaurant design, and physician office decor are other areas she enjoys utilizing her skills.
Residential design work is also a specialty. Joellyn enjoys getting to know her clients and their families. She works to create home environments that fit the needs and desires of the owners. She truly listens to her clients and believes in tailoring her skills to fit their needs instead of forcing opinions and styles that aren’t in line with the owner’s lifestyle and goals. Joellyn works with all phases of residential décor from initial space planning to selections of colors and furnishings as well as the final touches that make a house a home.
